1.
Guns were the leading cause of death in the USA among children and adolescents in 2021 for the second year in a row, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Since 1776 decreed The USA's been the #1 seed Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Martin Luther King so prophesied And now it's truly America's creed Well, the White House beat was hella rock steady When the sticks were in the hands of Mr. Roosevelt, Teddy Now there's Donald J. Trump, a no-soul asshole Whole drum kit's swirlin' down the toilet bowl You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you will not go There's a brand new keeper at the gates of hell He's a card-carrying evangelical He'll tell you to follow in the path of Jesus But only if you do things however he sees us (Little brains, hypocrites, Luddites, sleazes) You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you will not go (And thou truly shall reap whatever you sow) Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Since 1776 decreed The USA's been the #1 seed Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Brother MLK so prophesied And baked in now it's America's creed They suffer their never-ending shooting sprees This sacred and immutable gun disease The number of times it happens there Like other countries change their underwear You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you do not go (The gun didn't know he was loaded!) Oh right! Guns don't kill, it's the people do Kinda funny how folks of a darker hue Seem more likely to be on the business end When the shit goes down, the police they send (Car 54, where the fuck are you?) You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you will not go Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Since 1776 decreed The USA's been the #1 seed Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Martin Luther King so prophesied And now they're growing like a weed You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you will not go And if the brother survives, he doin' straight time But the punishment often don't fit the crime Them white collar gangstas, they doin' fine Brings a whole new perspective to spendin' a dime (I'm not sellin' out, I'm buyin' in!) Yeah, fill them up, throw away the keys In America's for profit penitentiaries As the corporate fat cats take their cut Now the land of the free is anything but (The home of the brave's heading for the grave) You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you will not go Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need And no-one knows how to stop the bleed Until then, they'll just continue to breed Racists, guns, hate and greed These are things that the world don't need Brother MLK so prophesied And now they're growin' just like a weed You cannot teach what you do not know And you cannot lead where you will not go..

The late great American Dream Now it's just a giant pyramid scheme The fat cats skim off the cream Leaving nothing for the teeming masses But buggered asses Stranded on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams The late great American Dream Smothered in its bed by Idiots Supreme Destroying the home of the free Machiavelli couldn't be more potent In just this moment A proud nation torn apart at the seams Where do we go from here? As the dominoes fall On everything that we held dear The late great American Dream Nothin' but a footnote in history Lady Liberty's on her knees Turning tricks for her brutal masters Malignant bastards Hidden, plotting in their Towers Ivory Where the hell do we go from here? In this land of the fee and the home of the slave Norman Rockwell is spinning in his grave The late great American Dream Didn't even get its funeral scene Buried in pieces by measures obscene Headed to the crematorium With no decorum Light a candle for the lost American Dream

about

Tez Howes Moncton, New Brunswick

I'm just an old Canadian fart writing & recording tunes, trying to capture the vibe of pre-millennial popular musics, rock, blues, jazz, funk, country, pop, etc. Lumiere and Knowhere are primarily indie pop, and The New Codiac Blues is a collection of blues-based tunes.
They're dotted with selected collabs with uber-talented friends in the UK, USA, Australia and Bulgaria of a variety of sounds.
